Zoo Day!

We had beautiful weather this week-well, the 2nd part of the week anyway. So, we decided to spend a day at the zoo with our friends.

Another paper "cake"

I made this one for my lesson to the YW on Sunday.

Scrapbook pages I made for Gavin's teachers

Gavin's graduation

Last week Gavin graduated from pre-school! I can't believe he starts kindergarten soon!

He's going to miss his friends and teachers!

Estes Park

This past weekend our family went to Estes Park for the holiday. We had so much fun! We went with 3 other families-17 of us! We shopped, ate, played games, did arts & crafts and more. I'm finding it hard to take as many pictures as I normally would have, but with 2 children to keep an eye I don't have a free hand any more. So, I missed some things that I would have liked to take shots of, but I got a few goods ones anyway.(actually Christiann took some of these too)

Some of the kids took an Animal Detective class at the YMCA. They learned about what kinds of tracks and clues different animals leave behind.

They even went outside to look for some.
And saw an elk!

We also went over and rode these cool slides:

I wish I had been able to take more pictures as these don't do justice to the great time we had. I'm hoping we can go again soon-maybe Labor Day?

Cinnamon Roll Cookies & Father's Day Kisses

Janet gave me this recipe (which I believe she got here) and it is so yummy! A little time comsuming, but worth it. I've been trying to take better pictures, hopefully these ones are OK. Here's the recipe too:

1 pouch (1lb 1.5 oz) Sugar cookie mix

1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

1/2 cup butter, softened

Press one side of dough into the cinnamon.*On greased cookie sheet coil dough rope tightly. Cinnamon side facing center, into a cinnamon roll shape. Press end of rope to seal. repeat with remaining dough. Place cookies 2 inches apart*Bake 7-10 minutes. cool 1 min then remove from cookies sheet.

In a small bowl mix glaze ingredients until smooth. Drizzle over cookies

Number Of Servings:2 dozen

Also, we are thinking about having the YW make these Krispy treat "Kisses" for their dad's for Father's Day:

Super easy! Except, one kiss takes a whole batch of the krispy treats! I used Cocoa Pebbles this time, but I think if we do decide to do this, I will just buy the big bags of cereal.

I found these funnels for 92 cents at Walmart in the auto dept. I ran them through the dishwasher, and they worked perfectly.

German Chocolate Bars

I tried this recipe the other day. I think they turned out pretty good. The only thing I would change would be not to put them in the refrigerator-it made them too hard. Here's some terrible pictures of my work. (I really need to learn how to take better photos)

May Card swap card

The theme this month was blank/any occasion cards. I really like how this card turned out. :) I love love love my glittery Gelly Roll pen. You can't really tell from the picture, but the dots on the flower were done using this pen. It makes the card just a little more sparkly! All the papers are Stampin' Up, so are the stamps, ink and ribbons.

Not like riding a bike...

Apparently you can forget how to frost/ice a cake. As proven here:

What a mess!
I took a Wilton cake decorating class a long time ago and obviously I didn't retain much. Oh well, at least Gavin guessed that the orange blobs on top were supposed to be carrots! And, the "G" in the middle was for him. He was watching me and he thought that would be a good idea.
I will say though that the cream cheese icing I made tastes so yummy!

If you are into pretty cakes (cupcakes actually) and new ideas, check out this blog! I love those flowers she did with the candy!
